Chicks to Chickens

What is up with the weather? I am not in the mood for clouds and cold at this point in the year! Yuck.
Not much has been happening but at the same time a lot has been going on for us. We've been so busy running around from here to there. We did a family dinner at my grandma's house for her 95th birthday this weekend. We visited with Thomas' Dad and Faith, and Thomas worked a whole lot this weekend.
Some of that work included getting the chicken coop built and the chickens moved outside. Hallelujah because the smell, sound and dust from the chickens is out of the playroom now! I always knew chickens weren't real brain trusts but seriously! Thomas put them in the outside part of their pen (completely enclosed with chicken wire) where their food and water is. The inside part has tons of straw and is covered so they can go in at night. Both are equal sizes and in all is about 8 feet long. So he put them in the pen at about 4:00pm and they hunted around and got aquainted. When we went out at 10:00pm to see how they were doing they were still outside, curled up together in the freezing night! Thomas had to go in and show them the inside area (which was a couple steps away.) They looked around like they couldn't believe their luck. They stayed inside all night. Dummies.
Now if you ask Caelen where the "Cheep cheeps" are she hollars, "OUTSIDE!" She loves that word anyway, so any chance to use it...

I just HAVE to say, This account of the chickens is the funniest thing I have read in a long, long time. I just LOVE it!! They are so lucky to have such a good and caring home. (But what do they know, anyway?? ;o) ) Grandma
